WASHINGTON, D.C. — January 27, 2026 — A highly recognized cybersecurity conference at George Washington University in February will feature Bill McKenna of Trilogy Innovations, Inc., as a guest speaker. The February 3 event will focus on cybersecurity threats to the upcoming Summer Olympics, which will be held July 2028 in Los Angeles.
McKenna, Trilogy’s Vice President of Strategic Programs and Government Affairs, will speak in his capacity as a cybersecurity expert and as a GW alumnus at Cybersecurity Stronger Together 2026: Converging Threats & Defenses.
The theme of the conference unfolds against the backdrop of the 2028 Summer Olympics, which conference organizers said could be the target of a cyberattack on critical operational technology systems. “Industry leaders from cybersecurity, operational technology (OT), kinetic security, and political management will examine the evolving intersection of digital and physical threats,” conference organizers said.
McKenna will join a distinguished lineup of speakers from CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency), NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology), the State of California, and the private sector to discuss the evolving digital and physical threats facing critical infrastructure.
Holding a master’s degree in Homeland Security from George Washington University, McKenna will deliver closing remarks at the event and attend an exclusive VIP luncheon. His remarks will draw on his extensive experience in federal IT, including his leadership during Operation Warp Speed to discuss the human element of system resilience and why his advanced degree in Homeland Security matters.
“Systems tend to fail people quietly — until the consequences are loud,” McKenna said. “My goal at this conference is to bridge the gap between technical defense and the real-world decision-making that protects people when systems are under stress.”
McKenna has also served as a key resource on AI in working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and the military. He often emphasizes that cyber strength and recognizing potential cyber threats are essential, noting that DHS encompasses 22 component agencies and CISA is responsible for protecting the nation’s 16 critical infrastructure sectors.
“Future battles may well be fought by attacking security systems, not on the battlefield,” said McKenna. “And that battlefield will include websites, social media, and public records, and our cybersecurity posture will determine who wins the battle. It’s essential that we see where these threats are coming from and who the bad actors are.”
The event is hosted by George Washington University’s College of Professional Studies and The Cyber Guild.
“My participation in this event is important to Trilogy because it is a great reflection of our expertise, our understanding, and our knowledge of national security,” said McKenna. “This is what we do, and I’m very proud to be a part of this event.”
